What to expect in this course:
Wednesday nights are mixed sessions:
We will be teaching an advanced course, but our studio is also an open for other students.
Advanced course:
We will be teaching an Advanced (Level 3) course - which is a continuation of our Levels 1 & 2 courses. During this time, you will continue adding to your skill set as you gain a deeper understanding as you learn several new techniques, which are outlined below. Not for Beginners. Ideally you must have completed our Levels 1 and 2 courses, or have some experience with saw piecing and soldering.
Open class:
For those who have either completed Levels 1 & 2, or have jewellery making experience and would like some time at the bench to work on your own designs or practice techniques, you are welcome to book for the 6 weeks. (Please note, you can't book for just one night. You need to book for the entire 6 weeks.) This is primarily an advanced course, but the tutor will be on hand to help you with any techniques you need to get to grips with. You are of course also welcome to join in with what the class is learning.
During this course, we will be teaching you different techniques; however and unlike Level 1 where you had set pieces to work on - this time each student will incorporate these techniques into their own designs. Everybody has different tastes and design ideas so this is a time to use your design skills.
During our terms we also run demonstrations which are either relevant to student projects or to those who have requested a certain technique.
We are very much here to support your development. The more terms you complete with us, the more time you have to develop a wide range of skills and a good understanding of the industry as a whole. This time honoured profession takes time and practice to perfect your skills and techniques.
This unisex class which is held in our Liverpool workshop, is a great environment to develop your creativity and do something fun with like-minded people. It also offers the opportunity to make lovely original gifts, or may even be the start of a new career.
During the first session, any new students are given a safety briefing, and a tour of the workshop so you feel comfortable within the workshop.
Each student bench has its own complete set of hand tools, solder equipment and soldering station.
For students under 18, you will need a parent's consent to attend these classes.
We can only accommodate 5 students in our classes; therefore early booking is essential.
Any queries, please do not hesitate to contact Tracy at: admin@tracyhills.co.uk
