Workshop Access/Bench Hire
Description
Bench space is available to jewellers with intermediate and above experience.
Please Note: This is not a taught session. Jewellers will work on their own, though Tracy will be on hand should you require help with anything. (Fees may be incurred - see pricing below)
We offer untutored bench space and the use of all the tools, on a pay per hour basis. Perfect for anyone who has not yet set up their own workshop and is looking for occasional bench space and use of various tools and machinery; or for our students who might not have finished their pieces at an end of a course.
You will have use of the entire workshop and a jewellers bench with skin. Each bench has a bench pin, overhead magnifier and light, and a Foredom quick release pendant drill. (Please note you will need to supply your own burrs, drills, etc for the pendant drill).
Each work space has various hand tools - piercing saw, pliers and files. Each bench also has a small soldering station with turntable, soldering blocks, hand held Butane torch, soldering pick and a variety of tweezers - reverse lock and plain.
We also have a larger dedicated soldering section, should you need it. This area has two propane tanks with 2 sievert torches and various burner sizes. We also have a Smiths 'Little Torch with Oxycon. If you have not used a Little smith torch, you will need to be inducted before you can do so.
You will also have access to all machinery tools and workshop equipment - which include, grinder, pillar drill, rolling mill, hydraulic press, 2 vices, ultrasonic and a tumbler.
Our tool station also includes various hammers - nylon, rawhide and textured and various sized doming and swage blocks. There are also various mandrels - oval and round bangle mandrels, neck, ring and earring mandrels, as well as various shaped smaller mandrels. There are a number of hammers - rawhide, nylon, texture, ball pein and cross pein. Doming blocks, swage blocks, sand bags and punches. We also have a mini kiln for those wanting to do silver clay.
Please Note: You will not have access to, nor be able to use dangerous chemicals i.e Acid, unless discussed with Tracy first.
Please bring all your own materials, sundries/ consumables - drill bits, saw blades, emery paper and solder. PLEASE NOTE: No pewter or aluminium to be used. It contaminates silver. Only gold, silver, copper, brass and bronze to be used.
