Workshop Access/Bench Hire

Picture
Description

Bench space is available to jewellers with some jewellery and soldering experience.
Please Note: This is not a taught session. Jeweller's will work on their own, though Tracy will be on hand should you require help with anything. (Fees may be incurred - see pricing below)

We offer untutored bench space and the use of all the tools, on a pay per hour basis. Perfect for anyone who has not yet set up their own workshop and is looking for occasional bench space and use of various tools and machinery; or for our students who might not have finished their pieces at an end of a course.

You will have use of the entire workshop and your own jeweller's bench with skin. Each bench has a bench pin, overhead magnifier and light, and a Foredom quick release pendant drill. (Please note you will need to supply your own burrs, drills, etc for the pendant drill).
Each work space has various hand tools - piercing saw, pliers and files and also its own small soldering station with turntable, soldering blocks, hand held Butane torch, soldering pick and a variety of tweezers - reverse lock and plain.

Should you need it, we also have a larger dedicated soldering section. This area has two propane tanks with 2 Sievert torches and various burner sizes. We also have a Smiths Little Torch with Oxycon oxygen. If you have not used a Little Smith torch, you will need to be inducted before you can do so.

You will also have access to all machinery tools and workshop equipment - which include, a polisher and grinder, pillar drill, rolling mill, hydraulic press, 2 vices, ultrasonic and a tumbler.

Our tool station also includes various hammers - nylon, rawhide and textured and various sized doming and swage blocks and sand bags. There are also various mandrels - oval and round bangle mandrels, neck, ring and earring mandrels, as well as various shaped smaller mandrels. There are a number of hammers in various sizes - rawhide, nylon, texture, ball and cross pein.  We also have a mini kiln for those wanting to do silver clay.

Please Note: You will not have access to, nor be able to use dangerous chemicals i.e Acid, unless discussed with Tracy first.

Please bring all your own materials, sundries/ consumables - drill bits, saw blades, emery paper and solder.
PLEASE NOTE: No pewter or aluminium to be used. It contaminates silver. Only gold, silver, copper, brass and bronze to be used.

A limited amount of metal, gemstones and sundries may be available for purchase on the day.

Please contact me for availability. As this is a teaching workshop, it will therefore not always be available for use. These slots  may need to fit around other classes taking place.

Tea, coffee and biscuits are available throughout your session. Weather permitting, you are welcome to sit outside in the garden or under the pergola during your breaks.
