Q. I am a complete beginner - will the course be suitable for me?
YES! Most of our courses are suitable for total beginners as well as the more experienced. We only take such a small number of people in each class, which allows us to give you maximum attention.
Q. I have never done anything creative before - how will I know what to do?
We are here to guide you from the initial design to the finished piece. We have lots of inspirational books and magazines to give you fabulous ideas. We also encourage the use of sketchbooks.
Q. Where can I get ideas of what to make on the day?
We have a number of jewellery books, but you can also view our Pinterest boards which have images, videos and tutorials of all the techniques you will learn. These boards serve as inspiration for your designs https://www.pinterest.co.uk/tracyhills
Q. What do you cover in the course?
Our courses are designed to be flexible - we do not tell you what you have to make - however we are happy to guide you towards making something within your abilities. As we only take a maximum of five people on each course it means we can give everyone maximum attention.
Everyone can work on their own projects at their own pace. Normally for beginners we suggest starting with a simple silver band ring or bracelet which will familiarise you with the metal, tools and through which you will learn all the basic jewellery making skills. Once you have mastered the basics of piercing and soldering, you will be ready to try different techniques. If you have jewellery making experience already you can concentrate on particular techniques or tackle a more advanced piece - we are here to help you learn what you need to know.

Q. What do I need to bring with me?
We supply all the materials you may need for each particular class, unless otherwise stated next to each class description. We also have a small amount of materials and tools available to purchase at the workshop.
It is however a good idea to bring along a note or sketchbook and something to write or draw with. If you wear spectacles, please bring them along too. We suggest you bring along an apron, or wear old clothing. For health and safety regulations you will need to tie long hair back and you must wear closed shoes. No sandals allowed. No long scarves or chains to be worn. We provide safety glasses.
We provide light refreshments. If on a full day course, you need to bring a packed lunch.
Q. Do you sell gift vouchers?
Not at the moment, but it something we will be introducing. In the meantime, if you want to offer a class as a gift, please contact me.
Q. I've booked on to one your workshops but now can't make it. Can I get a refund or transfer to another class?
You have the statutory 14 days to cancel or amend your booking. After this time a 50% refund or the option for another class will be offered - if cancelled more than two weeks before the class. No refunds or exchanges will be offered less than two weeks before the class commences. If you let us know early enough, we can offer your space for re-sale. We will try our best to sell if, and If we manage to do so, we will give you a voucher worth the full amount for another class. Alternatively, you're welcome to either transfer or sell your ticket to someone else. All we require is the name and email of your replacement so we can keep them updated. If you are on a 6 week course, we will try our best to fit you into one of the other classes if we have the space.
Q. Can men also do the courses?
Absolutely! Some of the world's best jewellery designers are men.
Q. Will I complete a piece of jewellery on a one day workshop?
Yes, definitely!
Q. Is there an age limit to your workshops?
A. At the moment, yes. 16 is the youngest we allow, but will need written consent by the minor. We do on occasion run dedicated classes for youngsters starting at age 10. Between the ages of 10 and 16 the minor will need to be accompanied by a adult.
Q. Are you available for private bookings?
Yes! We offer full one on one classes and courses. We also offer special small group classes (max 5 people) for special events like hen and stag parties, team building etc. Just contact me book a date.
Q. Can you advise me on which tools I would need to make jewellery at home?
Yes, we are happy to help and advise. We also give you lists of where the best places to buy all your tools and materials are.
Q. Is there parking nearby?
Yes, directly outside the studio.
Q. Do you provide refreshments?
We provide, tea, coffee, and biscuits. For a full day course, we suggest you bring along a packed lunch. There is a large Tesco and Spar nearby.
Q. Where is the studio situated?
The workshop is situated in a dedicated studio in my back garden, in Litherland, Merseyside. A map is provided on the contacts page.
