Fold forming 

Class level: 
​Beginners - No experience necessary, but ideal if you have some experience with annealing metal.

Outline: 
​During this 4 hour class you will learn how to bend and fold metal using hammers and an hydraulic press to create unique jewellery items.

You will practice with a sheet of copper, before you move on to your final piece. You can make either a pendant, brooch or bangle.

We appreciate that silver is expensive, so you can have a choice of making your final piece in either copper or silver.

This intimate unisex class which is held in our Liverpool workshop, is also a great environment to develop your creativity and do something fun with like-minded people. It also offers the opportunity to make lovely original gifts, and it might even be the start of a new career.

​Techniques covered in each class:
  • Annealing​
  • Bending and shaping metal using a vice, anvil, hammers and an hydraulic press. 
  • For those with some experience, you can solder on accents or granulation

  • Materials provided:
  • Copper and Sterling silver sheet 
  • Consumables -  Everything needed to complete your project
  • Safety glasses and ear protection provided

    What to Bring:

    This is a workshop environment, so your well being and safety is important to us. To ensure this is a safe - but fun environment for you to learn in; we ask that you please:
    ​
  • Wear comfortable old clothing, or bring an apron. Ear defenders and safety glasses are provided.
  • Long hair to be tied back. 
  • No loose flowing scarves, long sleeves or jewellery to be worn. These can easily get caught up in machinery.
  • Closed flat shoes - no sandals allowed.
  • Spectacles, if needed for close up work.
  • Notebook and pencil. Although we do provide some hand outs, you may want to take your own notes or draw sketches.​

  • Tea, Coffee and biscuits provided.
