Class level:
Suitable for complete beginners. No experience needed for this fun class

Outline:
For this class we use the big torches. For those who have not yet used a Smiths Little torch or the propane gas torches, you will be inducted into the use of them. But have no fear, they are simple to use and there is always a tutor on hand when you use them.

We will show you how to melt your silver in a crucible. You will then pour the molten metal into either a bowl of water, or onto various dried food shapes, like twirly pasta, rock salt, or fun peas etc.  Each pour will result in completely random and unique organic shapes. No two pieces will ever be the same. If you are not happy with your shape, you can simply melt your metal and try again.

Once you have a couple of pieces you are happy with, you will then have the opportunity then turn them into unique jewellery designs - by either making a pendant or adding it as an accent to a ring or by making a pair of earrings. We will also have some pearls you can add to your design.

We will provide all the tools and a an amount of silver casting grain. You are welcome to bring any of your own silver scrap to melt down too. You can purchase additional grain from your preferred silver supplier or from Cooksongold, which is where we purchase ours.

If you let Tracy know 1 week in advance, she can also order silver for you. Silver prices change daily, so prices will be dependant on silver prices are at the time of ordering.
