Drop Casting into water, Food/Broom Casting, Cuttle Fish Casting and Delft Sand Casting
Beginners welcome. No experience needed.
This full day casting workshop will begin with a discussion on mould making and having your masters sent away to be professionally cast should you want to cast multiples of your work. We will then look at drop water and broom/food casting. After that we will commence with cuttle fish and sand casting.
We will provide all the tools - casting flasks, delft sand and cuttle fish needed for the class; but PLEASE NOTE you will need to provide your own scrap silver to be melted down for your casting. The amount of silver needed would be dependant on the size and number of items you'd like to cast. Please note, you can keep re-melting your silver if you are not happy with the casting.
You can also purchase silver grain from Cooksongold. Alternatively, you can purchase silver grain from me on the day. I am estimating that you would need at the very least 12 - 15 grams for a small item. Should you require to purchase grain from me, please let me know ASAP, so I can order it in time for delivery.
You can also bring a small item you'd like to cast in silver, E.g. a small plastic piece like a bit of lego, or a small toy, or another piece of jewellery, or a natural item like a shell etc. We do have lots of items here you which you could use.
The class will run for 7 hours - from 10:00 - 5.00 pm with a short break for lunch. Teas, coffee and biscuits will be provided throughout the day.
ABSOLUTELY NO ALUMINIUM OR PEWTER TO BE USED. SILVER ONLY
Any queries, or if you should want Tracy to purchase silver for you, please do not hesitate to ask.
