Torch Fired Enamelling

Class level:
Beginners - Suitable for anybody who would like to learn a little about enamelling. All ages over 16 welcome. You are never too old to learn a new skill.
This exciting introductory class to enamels offers the opportunity to experience adding enamel to metal to create vibrant colour and patterns to your metal.

Note: We are aware that most people do not have kilns, so we will be using torch fired enamels instead. All that is needed is a little hand held torch for this process.

Outline:
All the tools and materials will be provided.
We will take you through some of the basic techniques used to create some lovely, earrings, and pendant using torch fired enamels.

You will learn how to prepare your metal, and pack the enamel on the surface, and then how to fuse the enamel to the surface using a hand held torch. You will have time to make some practice pieces, before moving on to your final pieces. We will have various shapes for you to choose from, E.g butterflies, hearts, stars etc. For those with saw piercing experience, you can cut out your own custom design. You will then finish your piece using cold connections, by drilling a hole for either a chain, or earrings to attach to.

This cosy unisex class which is held in our Merseyside workshop, is also a great environment to develop your creativity and do something fun with like-minded people. It also offers the opportunity to make lovely original gifts, and who knows, may even be the start of a new career.
